The Commission on Elections (Comelec) announced that the total of registered voters for 2016 polls are over 54 million Filipinos. The 2016 national and local elections was set on May 9, 2016.
According to final report released by Comelec dated on December 16, there are 54,363,329 registered voters nationwide for the 2016 polls. It was much higher compared to midterm elections on 2013 which was only 52,014,648 registered voters.

Comelec mentioned also that the total voters for 2016 didn't include the estimated 2.5 million voters whose records have been deactivated due to non-compliance of "No Bio, No Boto" policy.
Which means, it will be more voters for 2016 if the no biometrics, no vote policy was not imposed. It could be increased into more than 56 million.
But Under Republic Act 10367, a Filipino voter must have his or her biometrics taken before he or she can vote in the May 2016 elections and in succeeding polls. The Comelec explained that this is meant to cleanse the voters' list.
Aside from the increased of registered voters, Comelec has also increased the number of clustered precincts for 2016.
