PAGASA Dr. Flaviana Hilario confirmed in the press conference on May 29, 2015 that El Niño will be extended and expected to strengthen until August this year. It will weaken by January 2016 and ending in May 2016.
According to GMA7, "Hilario explained that based on PAGASA’s current data, El Niño is expected to reach moderate strength by August this year and weaken by January 2016, eventually ending in May 2016. There will be below normal rainfall throughout the country from August to December 2015."
Hilario added that there are 7 provinces could possibly experience drought and more than fifty provinces could be affected by a dry spell. And added to this problem, Angat Dam reached the level of 179.22 meter while the operational level is 180 m.
The official of Hydrologist Palmer Caringal clarifies that the said level is not critical yet but sad to say it continues to go down. But the good news is we enter the rainy season.
More good news, La Mesa and San Roque dams both have no problem with their water levels.
