This posted image with a caption “Thank you Kia Philippines for my new Kia K9!” gained a lot of mixed reactions from all the PBA fans all over the internet.
Some are happy that it seems that Yap is preparing to transfer from another team while others want him to stay where he is right now.
To clear this issue up, Ginia Domingo, KIA's Team Governor and Columbia Autocar Corporation president said that the basketball player is just testing the said car.
Domingo said in an interview, “He’s (Yap) just test-driving the K9.”
Even Yap denied the rumor saying, “Parang luxury ambassador lang. Pero walang commitment outside of the use ng car,” said the two-time PBA Most Valuable Player. “Kasi sabi nga nila, puro sports people daw kasi gusto maging associated sa K9, parang si LeBron (James). Kaya okay naman.”
To help them clear the issues, Star Hotshots governor Rene Pardo also confirmed that they are aware of the said post saying that Yap before posting for the said brand informed them first.
Pardo said, “Alam naman namin 'yan. Hindi mo naman pwedeng sabihin na nililigawan si James ng KIA because of that. Pinamamaneho lang naman sa kanya yung kotse,” and added, “Kami rin naman pwede rin namin bigyan ng Star products si (Manny) Pacquiao tapos papa-post namin sa Instagram niya,” he added. “Remember, Manny is also an endorser of San Miguel Beer and its products.”
